The Electric Recliner Primer

Electric recliner sofas. Could there be a happier thought in this world?

Well, I guess grandma’s home-baked cookies and milk from the top the list. Well, if your granny was anything like me, she’d expect you to make sure that you get the best value for the money that you spend on everything from a car to a pair of cutting bolts.

1. 2012 is all about the budget

And, I’m not just talking about Washington. In this economy, it is imperative that everybody is operating on a bit of a budget. When it comes to home decor, whether you have $5000 or $50,000, there is always a budget ceiling looming over your head.

Even if a budget is not something that you are concerned in, in this strictest sense, you need to think about what you could do with the savings. If nothing else, you might even be able to get yourself a new set of vases.

2. Popular, fun and prone to breakage

For the longest time ever, I was keeping my distance from most electric recliners. This is of course before La-Z-Boy became a household name.

In fact, the first recliner that I ever bought was for a new plasma. I think it was a Berkeline 109-somehting and had speakers built into the headrest. After that moment, I was pretty much sold. Of course, the power recliner came with an amazing warranty that made it hard to pass upon.

If you’re buying from a non-American manufacturer or getting a custom power recliner made, make sure that whatever the case, you have at least a five-year warranty on the mechanics and moving parts of the thing.

3. Buying it for the living room or for your grandma?

There are people like me, who have whole family is that prefer a recliner sofa to anything else. And then there are the non-obsessed kind, people who are getting recliner sofas because they have a veritable need for it.

If you got someone elderly at home, and they’re bored of their rocking chair, then an Electric recliner is just what you need. This is especially helpful since you don’t want them to strain their joints while trying to press upon some lever or the other. With the touch sensitive buttons available nowadays, changing the recliner of the seat is the easiest thing ever.

4. Check to make sure the ‘double recline’ happens!

Serves looking at some generic manufacturer’s electric recliners over at my local Walmart and color me surprised when I came to realize that the thing didn’t do what I call a double recline.Whenever you press a button there are two things that need to happen. The backrest needs to backwards and at the same time, the base of the seat needs to push forward. For some reason, ABC manufacturer had forgotten to build that functionality into the Electric recliner. That pretty much makes the point of getting one of these things moot.

5. Location, location, location

When it comes to the safety of everybody at your home, location is of primal importance. Not only do you want to make sure that you place your Electric recliner in an area that gets low footfall, you also want to make sure that whenever you recline the thing

backwards,there is no way that you are going to end up stubbing your toe on a coffee table or something of that sort.

You also want to check that there is enough space behind the Electric recliner before you recline it completely because you might end up messing up the motor if you recline it backwards into a wall. I know this one seems like it’s pretty obvious, but it did happen to me once!

BONUS TIP

Well, I’ll save the most obvious tip for the end. Sit in the recliner. There is absolutely no substitute for that little exercise and even if it has all the things we just talked about, it could end up a moot point if it doesn’t feel comfortable to sit in.
